SAARC Secretary General Welcomes Delegates at the Secretariat who are attending Regional Workshop on 'Sustainable Family Farming in Livestock Sector for attaining UNDFF and the SDGs in South Asia'.
His Excellency Mr. Md. Golam Sarwar, Secretary General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), today welcomed a delegation from SAARC Member States and participants from Mongolia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan at the SAARC Secretariat. The delegates are participating in the SAARC Regional Workshop titled “Sustainable Family Farming in the Livestock Sector for Attaining the United Nations Decade of Family Farming (UNDFF) and the SDGs in South Asia” from 11-13 August 2025 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The three-day workshop was jointly organized by the SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Government of Nepal; the Asian Farmers’ Association (AFA), Philippines; and Heifer International, Nepal.
The event aims to promote knowledge-sharing, best practices, and policy dialogue to advance sustainable family farming in the livestock sector, in line with the UNDFF objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in South Asia.
The participants exchanged their experiences and knowledge earned from the workshop and lauded the role of SAARC in the promotion of Food and Nutritional Security in South Asia Region and beyond.
