Mr. Ali assumed duties at the Secretariat from 21 August 2015

-Joined Foreign Services of Pakistan in 2000. 

-Remain posted in Pakistan Missions in Japan, Brazil and Germany. 

-Also Served as Director (Personnel), Director (Organization and Career Planning) and Director (General Services and Communication Securities) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

-He has specialization in Japanese language. 

-Currently Serving as Director (Pakistan) in the SAARC Secretariat and dealing with matters relating to Energy Initiatives, Connectivity Initiatives and Science & Technology in the South Asia region.
