M.H.M.N. Bandara


 M.H.M.N. Bandara, a member of Sri Lanka Foreign Service has assumed duties as the Director representing Sri Lanka at the SAARC Secretariat, Kathmandu on 16th July 2015.

He has joined to the Foreign Service of Sri Lanka on 3rd January 2000. After joined the Foreign Service, he has worked in Sri Lankan Diplomatic Missions abroad, such as Beijing (2001-2005) Second Secretary, The Hague (2006-2008) First Secretary, Islamabad (2009-2012) Minister Counsellor, Baghdad (2014-2015) Minister and Charge De Affairs.

During his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of  Colombo, has  assigned Assistant Chief of Protocol (2000-2001) Deputy Director Europe, CIS and America (2005-2006) Director, Consular Affairs (2012-2013) Director, Middle East (2013-2014).

M.H.M.N. Bandara has obtained Master Degree (MSc) in Information Management (2012-2014) from the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Management (SLIIT).  He has also pursued Post graduate Diploma in Writership and Communication (University of Sri Jayawardenapurain - 1997-98) and Post Graduate Diploma on International Relations (Bandaranaike Center for International Relations – 1998-1999). Bachelor Degree (University of Sri Jayawardenapura Sri Lanka -1995).

During last two decades, he has engaged with many international training on the various subjects, including   Diploma on ‘Youth and Development’ conducted by Commonwealth Regional Youth Center Chandigarh India (1996). Chinese Language and Cultural at Beijing Foreign Affairs University (2001) Multilateral Diplomacy at the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations In Malaysia (2005) Language training at National Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad India (2006)  

He has authored a number of publications under the various subjects since 1990.  Youth and Development, Travel memories, Youth Novels, and many publications are on his credit

Since 2007 he has been engaging with social media to promote the Country and the South Asian Region. Also he has written many articles in various subjects including Youth, Nature, Gender and Development, Youth Development, and travel memories.  

M.H.M.N. Bandara speaks Sinhala (Mother tongue), English, Tamil  and has basic  proficiency in Chinese and Swahili .
