Mr. Maihan Saeedi (Ph.D)
Director Human Resources Development and Tourism
Mr. Maihan Saeedi assumed duties as the Director representing Afghanistan at the SAARC Secretariat, Kathmandu on 23th September 2016.
Prior to his current appointment he was the policy officer for the Ministers office at the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan from 2014 to 2016.
Mr. Saeedi, joined the Afghan Foreign Service in the year 2007 and since then has served in various capacities within the Foreign Ministry.
He was Desk-Officer for the Communication and Publication Directorate of the Foreign Ministry from 2013 to 2014 he has also served as the Desk-Officer for the South Asian Region for the First Political Directorate of the Foreign Ministry from 2007 to 2008.
Mr. Saeedi, is a Ph.D research scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru university, New Delhi, since 2013, the title of his thesis is (impact of regional cooperation on the foreign policy of Afghanistan 2001-2014: case study Heart of Asia/Istanbul process).
He has completed his MPhil Degree from the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies of the School of International Studies of JNU in the year 2013, he has a Master Degree in Conflict Analysis and Peace Building from Nelson Mandela Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India, he completed his B.A degree Majoring in Political Science from the University of Delhi, India in the year 2007.
On deputation from the Afghan Foreign Ministry he has served as Director Regional Cooperation Department at the Afghan Institute of Strategic Studies AISS in Kabul from 2013 to 2014 where he co-wrote a policy paper on the Heart of Asia/Istanbul Process Titled: (The Heart of Asia Process at a Juncture: An Analysis of Impediments to Further Progress).
He has also worked with the Country Office of UNFPA in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011 as Gender and Youth Development officer.
Mr. Saeedi, was born on the 29th of January 1985 in Kabul, Afghanistan he is Fluent in Farsi/Dari, Pashto, English, Urdu and Hindi.
